Privacy Policy

Takki is an app that helps children complete their daily routines, set up and managed by a parent or guardian. We take privacy — especially children's privacy — seriously and collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is protected and what rights you have.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Skólavefurinn ehf. For any privacy matter, contact us at skolavefurinn@skolavefurinn.is.

2. The app works without an account

Takki works fully without signing in. If you use the app without an account, all data — lists, profiles and progress — is stored only on your device and sent nowhere. It is gone if the app is deleted.

3. What data we collect

If a parent chooses to sign in (with Apple or Google) to back up and sync across devices, we process the following:

• Account details: the name and email from your Apple or Google sign-in (Apple lets you hide your email). Used to identify your account.
• Content you create:profile names (including children's first names or nicknames that the parent enters), task lists, tasks, reminders and progress (stars, history).
• Technical identifier: a non-identifying identifier (Firebase ID) that links the data to your account.

We do not collect location, photos, contacts, health data, payment information or anything for advertising.

4. Purpose and legal basis

We use the data solely to provide the service — syncing your lists and profiles across devices and keeping a backup. The legal basis (under GDPR / Icelandic data-protection law) is performance of a contract (providing the service you asked for) and your consent when signing in. We never use the data for advertising or tracking.

5. Third parties and storage

To sync data we use Google Firebase (authentication and database) as a processor. We also use Apple and Google for sign-in. These providers process the data only on our behalf.

Data is stored in a data centre within the European Economic Area (EEA). We never sell your data or share it with data brokers.

6. Retention

Data is kept while your account is active. A parent can permanently delete all of the household's data at any time inside the app (Settings → Delete account). Local data is removed when the app is deleted from the device.

7. Children

Takki is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. All data about a child (e.g. a profile name) is entered by an adult. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children, show no ads and do no profiling.

8. Your rights

Under data-protection law you have the right to:

• access and receive a copy of your data,
• have it corrected or erased,
• restrict or object to processing,
• data portability,
• withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise your rights, email us at skolavefurinn@skolavefurinn.is. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority.

9. Security

Data is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and stored in Google's secure cloud with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable measures to protect your data.

10. The takki.is website

This website is a simple marketing page. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard server logs for security and operational purposes.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The latest version is always here, dated at the top. We will give reasonable notice of any significant changes.
